Good Afternoon,
Things at McGregor continue to be very quiet. Our April sales will be at least 75% LESS than planned. Our only major customer working this week is Life Fitness and their demand is less than half than normal. Our auto customers are projecting a start-up sometime in May, but Honda told us yesterday they’ve furloughed most of their salaried staff for at least 2 weeks. This is in addition to their hourly staff who were already furloughed.
We are all very excited for you to return to work and we have spent this week discussing new safety protocols and procedures when that day comes. We are stocking up on masks and other PPE, considering staggered lunch breaks and working on practicing social distancing wherever possible throughout our facilities. Additionally, we are planning for accelerated opportunities with training, identifying organizational and cleanliness projects and prioritizing maintenance activities to keep us busy until our usual demand normalizes.
Many of you may have heard about the Payroll Protection Program being offered by the government as a part of the C.A.R.E.S. Act. McGregor applied for this program and we have been approved for the funding through our bank, Security National Bank. The details on how it will work are still emerging but I wanted to let all of you know that McGregor will be receiving the assistance offered to us by the federal government.
I continue to be humbled, daily, by all McGregor associates–those still working and those not–for your dedication and desire to continue to be a part of McGregor’s team. As we plan for a staggered re-start, please continue to watch the website and maintain communication with your supervisor and HR. I am really looking forward to having you back soon.
Enjoy the sunshine today,
Jamie
